Charles "Chuck" Alessi Walker Valley, NY Charles J. Alessi, Owner of Valley Plumbing and Heating in Walker Valley and longtime resident of the area, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Ellenville Regional Hospital. He was 69. The son of the late Rosario Alessi and Else Sommer Alessi, he was born on August 6, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY. Chuck served his country in the US Navy from 1960-1962 and lived his life with honesty, integrity, compassion, and generosity to others. He was the first to help anyone in their time of need. He answered to "Ponch" and "Chuckles" to his friend Ken and loved a good political argument with anyone willing to do battle with him. He will be missed so much and had lots of unfinished business with life. Survivors include his wife of almost 49 years, Judy, his loving children, Lynelle Alessi, Craig Alessi and his wife Kim, and Charles Alessi and his wife Stephanie. He is further survived by his granddaughters, Briana Casey, Ashlyn Alessi and Dana Alessi. He also left behind Jennifer, Sarah, Jaz, Nicholas, Lona and Brian who also looked upon him as their grandpa. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday May 7, 2011 at 1:00pm at The MountainView United Methodist Church, 3619 State Route 52, Walker Valley, New York 12588 with Pastor Robert Hewitt Officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make a donation to Chuck's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
