John Cronin John Cronin of Pine Bush, N.Y., the owner of Cronin's Sligo House Inn in Pine Bush and an area resident since 1984, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the Castle Point Veterans Hospital in Castle Point, N.Y. He was 73. Born on August 1, 1932 in Queens, he was the son of Michael Cronin and Mary Kiely Cronin. He was a member of the Church of the Infant Saviour in Pine Bush, a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. John was the widower of Geraldine Cronin who died on January 10, 2000. A family statement reads: "Thanks to all the friends and family of John and a special thanks to all the staff at Castle Point Veterans Hospital." Survivors include: five beloved children: Michael J. Cronin of Pine Bush, J.J. Cronin of Pine Bush, Edward J. Cronin of Pine Bush, Kathleen Hattenbrun and husband, David, of Tillson, N.Y., and Oliver B. Cronin of Pine Bush; two grandchildren: Michele Cronin and Kevin Cronin; and a brother, Richard Cronin of California. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 7, 2005 at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Infant Saviour, Route 302, Pine Bush. Burial will be in the family plot in New Prospect Cemetery in Pine Bush. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
