Obituary of Jayne M. Pondi

Jayne M. Pondi Bloomingburg, NY Jayne Pondi, a Retired Teacher for EJR Elementary, and a lifelong resident of the area passed away on Sunday May 2, 2010 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. She was 62. The daughter of Marion Liabach Flynn and the late Charles “Bud” Flynn, she was born on February 23, 1948 in Manhattan. Jayne was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church in Bloomingburg, and the Pine Bush Retired Teacher Association. A Family statement reads: “She touched many lives as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. We believe that God has called upon her because he needs a Kindergarten Teacher in Heaven”. Along with her mother Marion Flynn of Walker Valley, Jayne is survived by her husband Bruce Pondi at home, her children, Jason Pondi and Jessica Strouse of Bloomingburg, her daughter Kristen Joray and her husband Geoffrey of Kingston, and Matthew Pondi of Bloomingburg, 3 grandchildren, Gianna Pondi, and Miles and Magdalena Joray, sisters Susan Sullivan and her husband Robert of Florida, Marion Deane Bruyn and her husband Raymond of Pine Bush, and JoAnne Flynn-Scopteulo and her husband Raymond of Walker Valley. Jayne is further survived by nieces and nephews, brother and sister in laws, cousins, and a large family. She is also predeceased by her father Charles “Bud” Flynn. Visitation will take place on Wednesday May 5, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham RD Pine Bush. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday May 6, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Church of the Infant Saviour with Fr. Kevin Gallagher officiating. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery.
