Obituary of Richard H. Saft

Richard H. Saft Pine Bush, NY Richard H. Saft, an Electrical Contractor and former Owner of R. Saft Electrical Service passed away on Monday April 15, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He was 86. The son of the late John. E Saft and Erna Kab Saft, he was born on August 1, 1926 in Passaic, NJ. Richard was an Electrical Inspector with the NY Board of Fire Underwriters, retired Chief of Police with the Town of Shawangunk Police Department, past member of the Town of Shawangunk Police Committee, member of the NYS Retired Police Association, member of the Ulster County Shields and American Federation of Police; Past President of the Pine Bush area Senior Citizens, past president and Vice President of the Wallkill Community Seniors Citizens; former Assistant Chief of the Walker Valley Fire Dept. Richard also served his country in the US Army during WWII and was past Commander and life member of the G. Paul Bettinger Post 1308 American Legion, and life member of the Pine Bush VFW Post 5492in Pine Bush. Survivors include his wife Natalie at home, his 2 sons; Stephen and his wife Michele, and John and his fiancé Loretta Youngs of Pine Bush, 3 daughters; Jean Feller and her husband Walter of Pine Bush, Nancy Wright and her husband Adolph of Middletown, and Phyllis Sendelback and her husband Joseph of NC, sister; Mae Dunn of Pine Bush, 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, 4 great granddaughters, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Robin and 1 sister, Edna Dorey. Visitation will be held on Thursday April 18, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday April 19, 2013 at 11am with Pastor Robert Hewitt officiating, Burial will full military honors will take place at New Prospect Cemetery.
