John J. Czerniawski New Hampton, NY John J. Czerniawski of New Hampton, NY a retired Teacher for the Newburgh School District passed away on Thursday September 18, 2008 at Elant in Goshen. He was 87. He was born on August 26, 1921 in Cutchogue, NY. A veteran of WWII, John served his country in the US Army Air Corp. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1308, in Pine Bush, The New York Teachers Association, and Commissioner of The Girl Scouts in Rockland County. Survivors include his loving wife Joan at home, 4 loving daughters: JoAnn Torrealba and her husband Joe of New Hampton, Judy Bonventure of Merritt Island Florida, Jane Lael and her husband Michael of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Jean Fox and her husband Ken of Port Jervis. 3 loving grand children: Captain John Torrealba, Amanda and Claire Lael. 2 Loving brothers, Stanley of Huntington CT, and Jeffrey of Riverhead NY. Loving sister Anne Mallardi of Commack NY . A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday September 27, 2008 from 10:00am-1:00pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY. Burial of ashes will take place in New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush NY immediately following.
