Obituary of Clarence J. Decker

Clarence J. Decker Clarence J Decker of Shawangunk went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 5th while at home with his family. He was born to the late Lucy and Fred Decker of Shawangunk on October 6, 1934. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Decker, at home, his two children, Captain Clarence J Decker Jr. of Hubert Heights, Ohio, JoAnn Bazelow of Pine Bush and her husband John Bazelow, his three grandchildren, Cassondra Bazelow, Jacquelyn Bazelow, and Joshua Bazelow, his brother Fred Decker of Waldne, and his nieces and nephews. He has also left behind one very loved and spoiled cat named Shado, who was his companion and company throughout the day. Clarence graduated from Pine Bush High School and attended Orange County Community College. He served sixteen years as the Superintendent of Highways for the town of Shawangunk. He retired from the Pine Bush Central School District after working on Operations Maintenance for many years. He was always a man who loved and enjoyed the outdoors, and felt most at home on his own land. He loved to joke and be funny, and never lost his sense of humor, even after being sick for the past many years with emphysema. He leaves with all of us his countless stories and memories and the advice to cherish every day as if it were your last and love with all of your heart. His family was the most important thing to him. He loved all of his grandchildren very much and was always proud of their accomplishments and how much they cared for the people around them. We will love you forever, and always you will be in our memories, your kind heart and youthful spirit will never be forgotten. Flowers can be sent to the Shawangunk Reformed Church, 1166 Hoagerburgh Rd, Wallkill NY 12589 where the memorial service is being held on Monday, the 10th of November, at 1:00 in the afternoon.
