Obituary of Madeline H. Caramatti

Madeline H. Caramatti, a Retired Registered Nurse and longtime resident of the area, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010 at home. She was 80. The daughter of the late Lawrence Farino and Madeline Racioppi Farino, she was born on March 10, 1929 in Queens, NY. Madeline graduated from the St. Johns School of Nursing and worked for several hospitals in the Queens NY area. She also taught for Orange and Ulster BOCES. Madeline was a former President of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of the Pine Bush Post 1308, Former president of the Orange County American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, former District President of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, former VAVS Rep at Castle Point Hospital for several years, and member of the Pine Bush and Walker Valley Seniors. She was past Petite Chapeau of Orange County and member of the 8-40 Orange Salon #14. Madeline also was a NYS Nursing Scholarship Chairperson and giver of the Louis J. Caramatti Scholarship that is awarded to a Pine Bush High School Senior every year. Survivors include her loving son Mark and his wife Kim of Newburgh, loving sister in law, Mary Lou Caramatti of Flushing, Queens, and several cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Louis J. Caramatti. Visitation will be held on Saturday January 30, 2010 from 2-5 pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. Pine Bush, NY. Funeral services will take place at 3pm at the funeral home with Fr. Kevin Gallagher officiating. Cremation will be at Cedar Hill Crematory.
