Obituary of Larry Gunderman

Lawrence Gunderman Walker Valley, NY Lawrence Gunderman a retired Maintenance Technician for IBM in Fishkill and 30yr resident of the area passed away on Wednesday November 25, 2015 at his daughters home. He was 97. The son of the late Samuel Gunderman and Elenor Leliaert Gunderman, he was born on April 1, 1918 in Patterson, NJ. A Veteran of WWII, Larry served his country in the US Army. He was a member of the American Legion G. Paul Bettinger Post 1308 in Pine Bush, the Pine Bush and Walker Valley Seniors, a Black belt in Karate and Kung-Fu, and always enjoyed the Cup and Saucer Diner where his friends treated him like Gold. Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Atkinson and her husband George of Fishkill, brother, Sam Gunderman of Florida, step daughter, Evelyn Cordes of Staten Island, companion, Kathy Kelly. Larry is further survived by several nieces and nephews and is predeceased by his wife, Irene, son, Blaine, second wife, Evelyn, brother, George, and sisters, Mary Marl, Bea Marl, Elenor Raleigh, Rosie Lester and Gladys Shumanski. Visitation will be held on Monday November 30, 2015 from 1-4pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush, NY. Funeral Services will be offered on Tuesday December 1, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Robert B. Hewitt officiating. Burial will take place in Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden, NY.
