Obituary of Fred E. Pirog Jr.

Fred E “Freddy” Pirog Jr. Pine Bush, NY Fred E. Pirog Jr., a lifetime resident of the area, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 5th 2015 at his home. He was 64 years old. The son of the Fred E. Pirog Sr. and the late Patricia Coffin Pirog, he was born on February 22, 1951 in Ellenville, NY. Fred was "happily retired" from Ironworkers Union Local 417 in Newburgh, NY, where he worked for 39 years. He was a past Vice President of the union, executive board member, and an apprenticeship instructor for 15 years. An avid reader and outdoors man, Fred enjoyed NASCAR, football, hunting, camping and spending time with friends. A longtime lover of music, one of his proudest career accomplishments was supervising the construction of Bethel Woods, where he loved to attend concerts with family and friends. Above all Fred most enjoyed spending time with his daughters, Marissa and Eden. He is survived by his daughters Marissa Raye Pirog of Seattle, WA, and Eden Janelle Pirog of Boston, MA, his father Fred Pirog Sr. of Pine Bush, NY, sister Ruth Ann Proper (James) of Mint Hill, NC, sister Lynn Veety (Mark) of Matthews, NC, brother Robert Pirog (Donna) of Seattle, WA and brother Mark Pirog of Pine Bush, NY. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Patricia Pirog and his brother John Pirog. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10th 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush NY 12566. Funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Rob Hewitt at 8:30pm at he funeral home. Cremation and Internment of the cremains will be private and at the convenience of the family.
