Obituary of Philip W. Fischetti

Philip W. Fischetti Walker Valley, NY Philip W. Fischetti, longtime resident of the area, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was 85. He was preceded in death by Ethel, his devoted wife of 54 years, and his brother Michael Fischetti. Philip was born on May 24, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Rosario and Anna Fischetti. He grew up in Canarsie, Brooklyn, of which he has the fondest of memories. Philip proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He married his wife, Ethel, on September 17, 1955, and was thereafter blessed with four children. Philip worked for the New York City Transit Authority for 20 years. After his retirement, he worked for 20+ years as a security guard/ambulance driver. He is survived by his four children, Ross Fischetti and wife Judy of Goshen, Diane Hyde and husband Sam of Woodstock, John Fischetti and partner Theresa of Walker Valley, and Peter Fischetti and wife Michelle of St. Cloud, Florida; ten grandchildren, Adam and wife Kelly, James, Heather, Nicole, Christopher, his partner Carley and her son Jai, Molly, Matthew and partner Ariana, Danielle, Kaitlyn, and Anthony; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. at William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Rd, Pine Bush, NY. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Goshen.
