Obituary of Joseph E. Mercurio

Joseph E. Mercurio Pine Bush, New York Joseph E. Mercurio, 38, a lifelong resident of Pine Bush, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 30th of April, 2016. He was 38. The son of Alphonse Mercurio of Walker Valley, NY and Susan Milton Mercurio of Keene, NH, he was born November 15, 1977 in Middletown NY. From an early age, Joe established himself as a hard and dedicated worker. Even at the young age of 16, he was working 40-50 hours a week in a pizzeria. While in high school he purchased a car and provided for all his needs with the money that he made. He had a landscaping business, roofed houses and worked concrete, but he was most known as the excellent chef and owner operator of Joey Tomatoes: Pizzeria and Restaurant in Pine Bush. He treated all his customers like they were family, greeting each and every one with a smile or a little joke. He was loved by all who entered his restaurant, loved to drive nice cars and wear fine clothes but also loved to hunt and fish. He worked hard and lived life to the fullest. In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his sister, Monica Mercurio-Wong and her husband, Peter, of Salem, Oregon; his Grand Parents, Frank and Kathleen Mercurio of Campbell Hall; Maternal Grand Father, Norman Milton of New Hampshire; Nephew Colin Wong and Niece Susie Wong; as well as many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was predeceased by his Uncles Frank J. Mercurio and Joseph Mercurio, as well as Maternal Grand Mother Geraldine Van Kleek Milton. “In the end, Son, it’s not the years in your life but rather the life in your years.” Love, Dad. Visitation will be held on Thursday May 12, 2016 from 6-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush, NY 12566.
