Obituary of Marie Kraushaar
Marie Stirk Kraushaar passed away June 8th, 2017 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury, CT. She was 92 years young. Marie was born July 2nd, 1924 to Felix and Palmira Gillio in New York City, Her brother, Victor Gillio, predeceased her in January, 2003.Marie worked as a bookkeeper for various companies in New York City and throughout the Hudson Valley, NY. She became a real estate agent and later worked as a companion to senior citizens. Cooking and cookie baking were favorite interests for Marie. She also played piano, crocheted, knitted and also enjoyed gardening and traveling the US. She was a long-standing member of the Church of the Infant Savior in Pine Bush, NY. In 1950 Marie married Donald T. Stirk (predeceased in 1978). They had two children, a son Mark and daughter Linda Michael. In addition to raising her children she also welcomed her nephew, Gary and niece Linda Diana to the family. She was Mom to all four children. In September of 2000, Marie married Kenneth Kraushaar, her friend and square dance partner. They were married over sixteen years, and spent the last three years together at River Glen Health Care Center. Marie is survived by her husband Ken, and his daughter, Sharon Williams and her children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her son, Mark Stirk, daughter Linda Michael and son-in-law David Goodrich, her nephew Gary and his wife Martha and their children Justin and Sarah, along with her niece Linda and her husband Russ Pryor and their children Allen, Robert (aka Blondie), Christi and Michelle.Marie was deeply loved for all her special gifts and there were many. She loved sunsets, nature’s beauty and family and exuded kindness and a sweetness to those around her. She passed down this deep love to all those who knew her. A family statement reads: “Dear Mom, know you are deeply missed. We thank you for all the gifts you gave to us – your unconditional love, your beautiful smile and never-to-forget warm cookies and a hug. Always, Mark, Michael-Lin, Gary, Linda…And “Greaseface”Marie would want us to thank all family and friends who so graciously gave their hearts to her. A special thank you to the staff at River Glen who gave so much fun, joy and compassion through the end of her life. She will be missed very much. Visitation will be held on Friday June 16, 2017 from 11am-1pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush NY 12566. Services will be conducted at 1pm at the funeral home.
