I worked with Marie at the "Club Store" at the Middletown Psychiatric Center from 1981 to about 1985. What a wonderful lady she was! One thing I fondly recall is that she would make Lentil Soup as the special for the day and it was such a crowd pleaser - it would almost always sell out by lunch time! Customers would come in and specifically ask if we had lentil soup even on days when it was not the special.....
Marie also helped me get a second job when I wasn't even looking for one! I happen to go the a local deli for my lunch break and the owner asked me if I was interested in some part time work and told me they were looking for a "responsible" person and they knew Marie and she recommended me. She was such a very sweet and kind-hearted lady.
I happen to be talking to a friend of mine about favorite recipes and I told her that I worked with this very nice lady (Marie) about 30 to 35 years ago and she had even given me the recipe for Lentil Soup - I told her I wished I still had it or could remember it. Curiosity got the best of me and I went on-line and discovered Marie had passed away earlier this year.
My deepest condolences to the family. I realize this is a bit late in coming, but I live in New Jersey now and had not heard until now.
