It was with great sadness that I heard about Mary's passing. As the neighbor across the street, I have wonderful memories of Mary's kindness to my own mother and our entire family.
Summertimes in Burlingham were the time to grow up and enjoy friendships. Our entire family enjoyed watching Ronnie and Julie growing up and sharing lots of time together--always under Mary's watchful eye.
Although Mary is no longer with us, our memories of her and her family are still very vivid and will last for a very long time.

My sister Mary taught me how to sew when we were kids. Together we took hand-me-downs and transformed them into new outfits. I became a hat maker with my own business-- making hats for over 50 years. It all started with a needle and thread and my sister's guidance.

I consider myself to be very lucky to have been born into a family of very strong women. Women who were way ahead of their time. And for certain, my Aunt Mary, was one of those women. I always thought of her as a super woman! She was a loving mother and grandmother, devoted wife, sweetest auntie, creative talent and a savvy business owner. I always remember her good nature and her infectious smile. She was a role model to me, as were all the Cumella sisters. How lucky am I to have had such wonderful aunties in my life! It’s been an honor to know Aunt Mary and hear the stories my mother shared with me. For example, clean the house or babysit the boobie ( her baby sister). She was part of the greatest generation to live on this earth. Hopefully her bloodline will carry on on everyone she touched.

So many memories of Aunt Mary-cutting my ponytail and and telling me it will grow back. Spending summers upstate and countless dinners with Aunt Mary, Julie and me. Her delicious cooking. Aunt Mary hugging me and giving me such encouraging words after the passing of Tian. These and many more I’ll treasure in my heart. Rest easy sweet lady. I love you, Aunt Mary.
