Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen Van Ness Gray July 29, 1923 – June 29, 2020 Our lives were forever changed on June 29, 2020 when Helen Van Ness Gray was called to rest in God’s beautiful home above.Helen was born on July 29, 1923 in Manhattan, NY to John and Antoinette Theodore, one of their two children. She is predeceased by her sister, Grace Eisele. Helen married Chester Van Ness on November 2, 1941 and shared 59 loving years together in their home in Stony Point, NY until Chester’s passing in 2001. Helen is survived by her three children, Gail Watts of Wilmington, DE, John Van Ness of Middletown, NY and Gregory (Brenda) Van Ness of Monroe, NY; five grandchildren, Richard, Steven (Mini) and Todd (Lori) Watts of Wilmington, DE and Jason (Nicole) Van Ness of Goshen, NY and Curtis (Noel) Van Ness of Milford, PA; six great-grandchildren, Anthony (Kelsey), Matthew, Tracy, Charlie, Conner and Kelly Watts, and Aviana, Jace and Declan Van Ness and one great-great granddaughter, Mila Grace Watts. Helen managed various doctors’ offices throughout her career, a job that she truly enjoyed until her retirement. Helen was fortunate to have found love again later in life and married Edward Gray in 2004. Their happiness was short-lived, however, when Ed passed away after only three years together. Helen was devoted to her church. She attended the local Seniors’ group and enjoyed meeting new friends. Helen was known for her impeccable fashion sense and was always “dressed to the nines”. She was the most kind and generous person and was admired by her family and friends. She loved to bake and many were fortunate to have enjoyed her delicious recipes. Her love will remain with us always. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Should you wish to donate in Helen’s memory, the family requests a donation be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.act.alz.org/donate.
