Obituary of Francis C. Bickel

Francis C. Bickel Pine Bush, NY Francis C. Bickel, an Assistant Superintendent for the Pine Bush Central School District and a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Thursday August 15, 2013 at his home. He was 80. The son of the late Frank E. Bickel, and Ida "Dot" Moring Bickel. He was born on October 18, 1932 in Flushing, NY A Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Frank served his country in the US Army from 1952-1954. After his tour in Korea he married the love of his life, Mary A. Bousquet on April 24, 1954. Frank graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 1958 and began teaching in the Pine Bush School District. In 1969 he became the Business Administrator for the school district. He also was a charter member of the Pine Bush Ambulance Corps., a member of the American Legion and faithful member and Elder of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Thompson Ridge. Frank leaves his beloved and devoted wife Mary of 59 years, daughter; Mary Louise Jackson, son; Francis C. Bickel and his wife Lori, grandchildren; Johann D. Jackson, Marianna F. Jackson, Rebecca Bickel, and Francis C.W Bickel, great granddaughter, Oni Cooper. Frank is predeceased by his two daughters, Dorothy Frances and Catherine Elizabeth Bickel. He loved and was so proud of his family, church, and community. Cremation was private and at the convenience o the family. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
