Obituary of Robert J. Moorhead

Robert J. Moorhead Pine Bush, NY Robert J. Moorhead a Retired Correctional Officer for Wallkill Correctional Facility and lifetime resident of the area, passed away on Monday November 28, 2011 at Valley View Center Nursing Care in Goshen. He was 78. The son of the late Robert J. Moorhead and Theresa O'Connor Moorhead, he was born on July 22, 1933 in NYC. A Veteran, Bob served his country during the Korean Conflict by enlisting in the US Army, and was a member of the American Legion G. Paul Bettinger Post 1308 in Pine Bush, The VFW in Pine Bush, Past Chief and Fire Commissioner of the Pine Bush Fire Dept and 50 Year Member, parishioner of The Church of the Infant Saviour and member of the Orange County Fire Chiefs Association. Survivors include his wife Betty at home; his children, Robert J. Moorhead III of Pine Bush, and Cindy Prince and her husband William of White Sulphur Springs, NY; his 2 grandsons who were his pride and joy, Robert J. Moorhead IV and John Moorhead, his daughter in law Adele Moorhead, nephew David Johnson and his wife Cynthia of Walden, sister in law Elsie Johnson of Thompson Ridge and brother in law Raymond Rumpf and his wife Lottie of Maybrook. He is further survived by 1 great niece and 2 great nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday December 1, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday December 2, 2011 at 10am at the Church of the Infant Saviour with Fr. Kevin Gallagher officiating. Burial will take place in New Prospect Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
