James J. Veluta Burlingham, NY James J. Veluta, a retired Treatment Assistant for Mid Hudson Psychiatric Center and longtime resident of the area, passed away at his home on February 3, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was 69. The son of the late V. James Veluta and Anna Picone Veluta he was born on May 10, 1943 in Passaic, NJ. James graduated from East Rutherford High School in 1961 and attended Mortuary College in 1962. After college James enlisted in the US Army from 1967-1969 during Vietnam. In 2003 James retired from the Mid Hudson Psychiatric Center in New Hampton where he worked as a treatment Assistant for 32 years. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Catherine Flora Veluta at home, children; Lynn M. Mullen and her husband David, Diane R. Veluta of Pompano Beach, Florida, James A. Veluta of Media, PA and Robert J. Veluta of Middletown, 2 grandsons, Tyler and Colin Mullen, and many brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 7, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Rd Pine Bush. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday February 8, 2013 at 10am at the Church of the Infant Saviour with Fr. Kevin Gallagher officiating. Burial will take place in New Prospect Cemetery. Donations can be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct. Newburgh, NY 12550. Arrangements entrusted to the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. www.wmgaganfuneralhome.com
