Sue, Holly, and Jeff,
I was so sorry and so saddened to learn of your mom’s death. Summer never really started at the lake until the Piches drove up to their front steps and Joan and I raced over to help them unload the car. For many summers Joan and Gerry would sit on the porch or on dock talking about bulletin boards and their upcoming school year. I will enjoy remembering Joan and Gerry blissfully floating on their rafts on hot summer days with Joan ever on the watch for snakes. Above all, I will cherish the many evenings that your mom and dad would join us on the porch for wine and much laughter. Their presence on the lake made summers there special. Savor your memories of her. Right now I feel that Joan is telling me I must mention the photo. It captures the essence of Gerry. We loved her smile. I’m seeing Louise tonight. We’ll save a special toast for Gerry.
