George Lewick (Milton,NY) posted a condolence

Well, I have been trying to write my thoughts for three days. Unfortunately I was going to the newspaper site. I finally called the funeral home and he explained how to do this.
We were at the funeral service yesterday and even though I wanted to speak, I find it easier for me to write.
I have known Fred, probably from the day he started with IBM. We both worked in machine maintenance and both progressed through the management chain. There was one occasion when I needed an individual who I knew would get the job done and that I could trust without question. Yes, we did have disagreements, especially when he wanted to give away the store. But we always would come to an agreement.
My wife and I went with Marie and Fred to Atlantic City more than once. Marie is the one who saw me putting in only one coin at a time and said no, you have to put in three coins to win big, all that did was empty my pockets three times faster. Fred thought this was funny.
I know anyone who knew Fred will remember his hardy laugh.
It's not funny but is, when people spend so much time together and when they change or leave a job, they always seem to forget who they knew. I will say Fred and I did keep in touch maybe only a phone call at the holiday times. He would always talk about his wonderful wife and the great kids they had.
We all will miss Fred, but when you are feeling down, remember how many times he tried to lift your spirits and again that laugh. Lucky guy.
Marie, don't worry about Fred, he's where he belongs and has found that slot machine with his name on it.
Not to steal a line from "It's a Wonderful Life"
with a little change, when you hear the bells ringing, it means he just won another jackpot.
Take care my friend,
George
