John Waffenschmidt, a longtime resident of the area, entered into rest on Monday, June 16, 2008 at Buckingham at Norwood Nursing Home in New Jersey. He was 82.
The son of Johann Waffenschmidt and Anna Stoltz Waffenschmidt, he was born February 4, 1926 in Romania.
John was a retired air conditioner mechanic for Rockefeller University. He was a member of the Mountainview United Methodist Church, Walker Valley Senior Citizens and Alliance of Transylvanian Saxons.
Survivors include his loving wife, Katherine Konnerth Waffenschmidt; beloved son, John Waffenschmidt and his wife, Patricia of Blauvelt; two beloved grandchildren, John Anthony and Bianca Waffenschmidt; beloved sister, Regina Litchel and beloved niece, Kathy Litchel.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, Inc., 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, NY.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, at the funeral home with Pastor Robert B. Hewitt officiating. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush, NY.
