Lucy S Cortright (Cookie) 71, of Walker Valley, passed away peacefully in the home of her sister after a short battle with Cancer on Thursday, March 17 in Mamakating. Lucy was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Rose and Dominico Giudice on February 11, 1945. She went to Pine Bush High School and graduated in 1962. She was a long time resident of Walker Valley. Lucy had a long successful career starting as a teller and working her way up to Auditor and Officer at various banks and finally as Banking Compliance Auditor/Officer until she retired from The Federal Reserve Bank in 2013. Lucy enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an avid traveler and her travels included Greece, all of the East Coast states and Caribbean islands with her daughter and friends, and Spain with her best friend Veronica Boniface. She took flying lessons and learned to fly a Cessna as well as spending many years riding her Honda 150 Motorcycle. She was the Treasurer of the Pine Bush High School Reunion Classes and enjoyed walking on the beach, bicycling and taking local road trips. Above all she loved spending time with her grandchildren whether it be swimming in the pool or attending their sports and other special events. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Karen and her husband Glenn Sutton of Pittstown NJ, grandchildren Tyler and Emily, her sister, Dorothy DiDominico, brother John Giudice and his wife Judy, a niece and nephew, many cousins and life-long special friends. Visitation will be held on Monday March 21, 2016 from 4-8pm at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham RD Pine Bush, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Tuesday March 22, 2016 at 10am at the Church of the Infant Saviour with Fr. Rodrigo officiating. Burial will take place at Bloomingburg Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties and many friends that made her last months peaceful and restful. “Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know, and you’ll see the way to fly.”-Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
